Well, I finally cut into my favourite fabric in the shop - Fuwari Fuwari by Nani Iro. A gorgeous brushed cotton from Japan. Looking forward to lounging in them later! Shame the velvet hasn't arrived, for a little bow trim, but I can't wait to wear them - it'll have to be added on at a later date. I used a PJ pattern - McCall's 6658, as the legs weren't too baggy and it also has 4 different top options.

Last week, I had a lovely surprise visit from Tina, the Gutermann rep - she's lovely! Not only did she give me glitzy thread samples, but she had Gutermann fabric samples!!!
After much deliberation and coffee, I managed to choose a few and low and behold, they arrived today!!
A gorgeous purple collection
and some spring greens!
They are 140 cm wide and £15.60/m and waiting for you!!
Well, I was woken by my alarm at 7am on my day off, to spend the next 2 hours driving to a fabric warehouse!! One of my suppliers, opened their warehouse and design office, for a bit of shop and chat. Very interesting it was too and the shopping wasn't bad either!
So we now have some lovely bright cotton needlecords and matching jerseys
and a lovely green wool with some co-ordinating cotton prints.
There are also 4 gorgeous liquid satins (really - they live up to their name!) in silver, gilt, pale pink & green. Perfect for evening wear or lining garments. A couple of stretch gabadines, couple of summer beach & swimmer prints and stripy jerseys on their way. I couldn't quite fit it all in my little car!!

Our new window display is of laces and flower tulle, sorry had to take it from inside, as it was pouring down outside! The sun does not always shine at the sea side :(
The fabulous drape dress, I cannot take the glory for. My 15 year old daughter is much better at dressing the window, I just pin things together and suspend bits from the ceiling.
With much direction!
I have been putting some ready made gifts together for the big C, next month!
Lined pouch £6.00
Cute pin cushions £4.00
Large lined pouch in french fabric £8.00
Mouse pin cushion £4.00
I have also made a few C stockings, but it's too early to show you those!!
Here are the new Colette patterns, all £12.50, just awaiting the Laurel one.
They are so lovely, little books with a pocket for the pattern at the back. They have links to tutorials on their website and little hints & tips. Also they donate some proceeds to animal welfare, so it ticks all the boxes!
I just have to decide which one to try out first, now I've finished my denim skirt!
This was a pattern from Grainline studio, to download,
It was really cheap to make.
A grand total of denim 0.75m @ £7.00/m, short zip £1.50 and a nice brass button 20p = £6.95!!
Now I have to purchase some woolly tights to wear with it, until it's flip flop weather again!
Thursday, 7 November 2013
I have finally donned a pair of tights, a sure sign the season has changed!
Another sign is the contents of today's fabric delivery!
The wool/viscose jersey in gunmetal is today's favourite, especially as it's wonderfully soft and 170 cm wide!! Not sure how I'm going to display it, as it's central tube is somewhat floppy.
There are a couple of polyester jerseys in the photo, a couple of stretch cottons (black & red), a jacquard that I feel could be used either side out, a stretch duchess satin in mink - the epitome of glamour and a couple of interesting linings. Oh and not forgetting Zhivago (it really is the fabric name!), the cut black fabric at 45 degrees to the rest of the fabrics!
The best thing is to come and see them and run your fingers through Zhivago!!

Early Summer Order has Arrived!
It seems so long ago since I placed an order with some Japanese manufacturers, I'd kind of forgotten what I'd ordered!!
A cute little print I fell in love with
£11.00 per metre, 100% Cotton, 110cm wide and pattern repeat 15 cm
Gorgeous lace and doily prints on navy blue cotton
£12.00 per metre, 100% Cotton, 110 cm wide and pattern repeat for the doily 8cm and lace 16cm
and finally a collection of prints - spots, lace motifs, flowers and a stripe!
all 100% Cotton, 110 cm wide and £13.50 per metre
So many lovely things in at the moment, must finish my denim skirt and make something a bit prettier!!
Just a reminder, the Butterick 40% off Pattern Sale ends this Friday 25th October!
Well, summer may be finally over, rain and wind the order of the day. I am still refusing to don the tights, a pair of brogues teamed with skirts and dresses, is putting off the moment!
After last week's visit to a Textile fair, I am awaiting deliveries within the fortnight! More autumnal textures and colours, plus a bit of glam! A button order has also just been placed, ready for those wintry makes.
The website is ready for an update, after a Sunday of photography with my eldest. A little hurried at the end, as his friends were waiting with surfboards ready to hit the beach. Yes, wind is greatly received by some and rain not bothered about! Just waiting for the photos to be edited and resized, let's hope the wind dies down!

A Bit of 1920's Splendour!
Beautiful 100% Premium Cotton
£13.50 per metre
I am really excited about these fabrics, Art Gallery Fabrics describe their prints as 100% premium cotton and their tag is "Feel the Difference". You know what, you can. They have a real lustre to them and the colours are gorgeous. I still have the Great Gatsby buzz, being as it's one of my all time favourite books, so this is my fabric homage to
F. Scott Fitzgerald!

A day off, so what's a girl to do?
Take herself (and daughter & friends) to The Knit & Stitch Show at Alexandra Palace!!
October 10th - 13th from 10am - 5.30pm
I am so looking forward to a day of looking, chatting and maybe shopping, with like minded people. What a great mix of exhibitions, stalls and new ideas, all housed under one roof!
Most definitely my stash will be added to, some may not even see light of day for months (even years!) But on a rainy day or dark winter's evening, I know I'll have something to play with!!
Wednesday, 2 October 2013
Here is our latest delivery of patterns. Some more Serendipity Studio dresses and skirt patterns and an infinity scarf from Villa Rosa designs.
Everyone finds the Kay Whitt patterns (Serendipity Studio), so easy to follow. I've had people use the Emaline skirt pattern, for a first dressmaking project and all have said how pleased they were with the results.
